A PERFECT PAIRING: BISTRO PRICED PRIX FIXE BEGINS

Tuesday, June 3, 2008

Yes, we've been wanting and waiting to launch a value engineered option and celebrate the beginning of summer 2008.  So, on Tuesday, June 3rd, the Bistro proudly presents a prix fixe alternative for both lunch (Tuesday – Friday) and dinner (Tuesday – Friday plus Sunday). Choose from one of Damon's organic shaved vegetable salads with Heirloom tomatoes, crispy wild caught calamari or one of his or Bryan's extraordinary soups, followed by either a grilled roulade of Alaskan King salmon, roasted Jidori free range chicken or a magnificent Niman Ranch pork chop.

Finish the feast with Felix's tasty trio of choices: chocolate soup, summer pear tart or our renowned crème brulee "en cage". And don't sweat the tariff in these tough times – just $35.45 per person at lunch time and only $45.45 at dinner, including a glass of the sparkling Spanish Cava, Cristalino. Let's help each other through those hot summer days, enjoy the terrific terrace and toast to the stars in our world ---namely you and yours.

PROUD TO POUR PELERIN (THE PILGRIM)

CHRIS WEIDEMANN BRACES THE BISTRO

Monday, July 28th, 2008

One of our favorite things to do at the Bistro is to play –play with flavor profiles, test new taste combinations and of course, play with you for your dining pleasure. Speaking of which, a fabulous opportunity was presented to yours truly and I wanted immediately to share it with you. On July 28th, Chris Weidemann of Pelerin (crony of John Kongsgaard and Gary Franscioni among others) and those famous Santa Lucia Highlands bows at the Bistro to proudly pour his 90 + point pedigreed portfolio. The wines are simply awesome.

We were introduced to Chris's wines through blind tastings for A/K/A (our new venture is looking toward a mid summer opening in St. Helena) and they won our palates over on every level. The wines are: 2007 Les Tournesols (Roussanne blend), 2006 St. Vincent's Cuvee Pinot Noir, 2006 Mesa del Sol Sangiovese (premier release), 2006 Monterey Syrah and the stunning 2005 Les Violettes Syrah.  Showcased with this fab five shall be some of the most vibrant farm to table selections from Salinas and Monterey by way of Damon, Keiji and Bryan. This promises to be one of the best Bistro evenings we can imagine.
